2017 Review – Barnsgate Manor

Wedding

2017 Has been another smashing year for Barnsgate Manor. We have had our ups and downs, celebrations and send-offs… but we have been introduced to many new people and changes which we believe will lead to many more changes in 2018!

Weddings

Everyone loves a love story. At Barnsgate Manor we are very happy to say that we have hosted 25 different weddings last year. Each one was so unique and special in their own way. We’ve had people arriving by horse and cart and having “cheese-cakes“… It’s an event that is so special to be a part of. From the Weddingsinitial introduction right through to the first dance and beyond. The big day is special, but the excitement and the preparations play a huge part too.

It’s always lovely to hear that we’ve done well and even better to see people turn up to other events after they have had their wedding here. We’ve already taken a few bookings for this year that we are excited to work with this year’s couples on and there has been an influx of wedding inquiries over the Christmas period (very romantic! congratulations!) So we are hoping to be a part in a chapter for many more happy couple’s love stories this year!

For more information, you can visit our wedding page.

A New Website

We have updated our website! A lot of you have been putting it to good use with your bookings and inquiries and it’s nice to be able to keep all our information up-to-date and available for you to see. Obviously, we have our blog post section now so that we are able to keep you in the know about what we’ve been up to and announce any upcoming events and we also have our ever-changing restaurant menu up for you all to see.

So far we have had over 14,000 visitors since September so it’s really nice to see a good response to the website and knowing people are able to interact with it. If you do have any feedback on improvements to our website, however, we would love to hear!

Craft Fairs

Craft FairWe have had three craft fairs here last year. They had died out at Barnsgate in recent times but since 2016 we have had a bit of a “revival”. They have gone down as a smash hit with plenty of stalls and plenty of browsers! I’m glad they have made a comeback as the Ashdown and the Museum really make the perfect venue for a craft fair and they have been well received each time. We have yet to announce the dates for 2018 but we are looking forward to them being even bigger and better this year!

Menu

For those of you who join us regularly, you may be aware of our ever-changing menu and our want of trying out new recipes for you to enjoy! We have had hundreds of different plates for our guests to try. Here are some we wanted to share:

Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence

Certificate of ExcellenceWe worked very hard last year to make some changes to be the best we can be and judging by our TripAdvisor page, it looks like you appreciated it! We’re so grateful to all those of you who have joined us at Barnsgate last year and every review does make a huge amount of difference. Good reviews help us and our reptutation, negative reviews tell us what we need to fix to be better. It’s nice to see the good outweigh the bad with our Certificate of Excellence so we will continue as we are and aim to keep delivering the service you expect!

2018

We had a very productive year last year. 2018 is already filling up with bookings so we are looking to repeat our success – if not improve upon – from last year. We all have our New Years Resolutions and things we want to achieve so let’s see if we can make 2018 the best one yet. We would love to hear about your resolutions!

If you want to join us this year for lunch or a function. You can contact us through here and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Have a very happy, successful and healthy 2018 all!

Lola the VW Campervan

Wedding Ideas

Struggling for wedding ideas and inspiration? You may remember I mentioned in my Top Ten Ways to Arrive In Style On Your Wedding Day post that I suggested a campervan would be a very stylish and impressive way to arrive.

Roll on Lola the VW Campervan…

I saw Lola park up yesterday at Barnsgate through my office window carrying the bride and groom. Not only is Lola a means of getting to and from the venue.  She also doubles up as a photo booth for everyone throughout the event. It’s such a great touch to add to a wedding day. It is one of the most memorable days in every couple’s lives. It is these little touches that make all the difference. I’m sure the bride, groom and all the guests had great fun seeing Lola arrive yesterday. I know it brought a smile to my face!

Get in Touch

You can get in touch with Mike (Lola’s owner/business partner) through his website or Facebook page if you would like to consider them for your wedding day. You will be able to find most of the details you would need on their website:

Top Ten Ways to Arrive in Style on Your Wedding Day

Well, I thought I had seen it all until last Saturday! The thundering roar of a bright red big rig soon got me out of the office. The Bride and Groom of the day clearly had decided to arrive in the most magnificent of fashions as they hopped out of this awesome vehicle. (Hats off to the driver who managed to navigate the drive!) This got me thinking, what are the top ten best ways for you and your partner to arrive at your venue in a way no one will ever forget? In no particular order:

1. Vintage Bus

P3s-for-front

All the luxury without the rabble! Many people have always wanted to experience what it is like on an open top bus, this could be your chance! You get the added benefit of space for your friends and family on the way to the venue!

2. Rolls Royce

Nothing exudes more style and prestige than a Rolls Royce. This luxury car comes with every feature imaginable for you to enjoy on your way to your big day. It’s a dream for many to even sit in such a vehicle. It’s an unforgettable experience to be driven somewhere in one.

3. Horse Drawn Carriage

Regal, yet surprisingly affordable! This carriage seats up to 4 people and comes in a range of different colours. Sure, you are going to take a while to get to where you’re going… but at least you can make the most of this once in a lifetime experience! Just make sure it’s not too far for the horses to go!

4. Steam Traction Engine

Horse and Cart not slow enough for you to enjoy the moment? This should do the trick! It doesn’t come much more classic and historical than this. Some companies even give you the opportunity to drive it yourself. It’s bound to make quite the entrance.

5. Supercar

Okay, so maybe slow isn’t for you. At the other end of the spectrum, you could hire a supercar! The car pictured above is a Lamborghini LP560 Spider and has all the speed and all the style you could hope for. Of course, you could hire a Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche and all other manner of fast cars as well!

6. Big Rig

As mentioned before, A big rig does make for a really BIG entrance. If your big day calls for a big vehicle, then why not? The experience isn’t complete however until you honk the horn so make sure you give all your friends and family a jump before leaving the cabin!

7. Hot Air Balloon

Who needs the road when you can touch the clouds with your one beloved on your special day? Hot air balloons are available to hire for your wedding with varying cabin sizes so you can take as many or as few people as you would like with you. Make sure to have your guests bring their sunglasses with them so they can keep their eye’s in the sky!

8. Campervan

Here’s a blast from the past! It’s hard to not see a campervan on the road and point it out. It has to be one of the most iconic and fun vehicles to have ever been produced. One sure way of a stylish and cosy arrival!

9. Tractor

-mg-0682-3388499679-o_4_110751

If you have farming roots in your family and you want to celebrate your heritage, a tractor can be a very fun way to do that. There are lots of options to personalise the carriage and the idea itself does seem very romantic.

Ideal Light Bites for any Occasion – Canopé Ideas

Restaurant Menu

We hosted another wonderful wedding last Saturday for Emma and Aaron. Congratulations to the both of you! We wish you a life of love and happiness together! It was a lovely set-up. Here are some of the pictures we got of the day:

Before the guests got started, we had some canopés for people to enjoy. They are the perfect party food. Full of taste and light enough to not spoil your meal (depending on how many you eat of course!). I wanted to share our recipes for three different canopés we had on offer.

The amounts vary depending on how many guests you have.

To make the croutè, we cut some discs out of white and brown slices of bread with a round cake cutter and toasted until crisp. The cheese croutès had a pinch of grated cheddar on top before toasting.
